Communication 101 (AT 101 part 1): 

Communication 101 consists of seven topics which are broken down into 14 one hour modules. This course is now offered in three packages: The full course, Foundations of training, or Six basic techniques. 

Foundations of training:  (Lectures 1-3) $125 

Lecture 1: A new conversation about the confluence of ethics, science, and practice in animal training. Overview of the background science  (behaviorism, cognition, neurosciences) and ethics of behavior modification and an introduction to the pros and cons class model for best outcomes.

Lecture 2: Introduction to communication. Operant and classical conditioning comparison. Understanding associative learning and classically conditioned stimuli: Bridges and advanced communication stimuli: Keep Going Stimulus, Intermediate bridges, Redirection Stimulus, End-of-session stimulus and their pros and cons.

Lecture 3: The art of training: successive approximations. Training plans and the basic formula for training behaviors.  Understanding how to make the right choice of training approximation.

Six Basic Techniques: (Lectures 4-7) $150

Lecture 4: The Six Basic Operant Techniques: The pros and cons of Free shaping (scan and capture).  The importance of Antecedent arrangements and how to set the animal up for success.

Lecture 5: The Six Basic Operant Techniques: The pros and cons of Mimicry and Baiting.  Two lectures in 1 - each lecture fully covering the topic of these important training methods.

Lecture 6: The Six Basic Operant Techniques: The Pros and cons of Manipulation and Negative Reinforcement. Two lectures in 1 - each lecture fully covering the topic of these important training methods.

Lecture 7: The Six Basic Operant Techniques: The pros and cons of Targeting and closing thoughts and previews of next course.
